Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (May 2, 1892 - April 21, 1918), nicknamed the "Red Baron", was a pilot in World War I. He was a "flying ace", who shot down 80 enemy airplanes , making him the pilot with the most kills in World War I. He was shot down on April 21, 1918. Arthur Roy Brown was credited with the kill, was awarded the military cross, and was buried with full military honors.
